A man suffered injuries after crashing his motorcycle on Dayton-Brandt Rd. just past Scarff Rd.

According to initial reports, the cyclist was southbound on Dayton-Brandt and lost control on a bridge.

Miami County Sheriff's deputies indicated that the cyclist was traveling at about 50 MPH. Neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the crash.

Emergency crews were going to use an adjacent field for Care Flight to land, but the property was surrounded with barbed wire fence and they could not find a gate.

Instead, the victim was transported by Elizabeth Twp. Medics to Sacred Heart Church's parking lot and met Care Flight there.

The deputy on the scene stated that the victim was conscious, knew his name and the date and was even joking with emergency personnel. He had suffered head injuries and was bleeding from his head.

He was reported to be returning from his 60th birthday party.

The cyclist was to be charged with failure to control.
