“It’s just a fun evening at the farm that gives everyone an opportunity to enjoy great music, delicious food, and local talent,” explains Missy Duer when talking about the upcoming Mash Bill Music Series hosted by the local Indian Creek Distillery during its popular Summer Nights at the Stillhouse event.

Located only five minutes from New Carlisle, Indian Creek Distillery produces its award-winning, small batch Staley Rye Whiskey. Duer says 2017 marks the fourth year the distillery has hosted Summer Nights at the Stillhouse. The Mash Bill Music Series is named after the whiskey recipe used by the distillery.

The Mash Bill Music Series includes two nights of music performed by local artists.

The July 8 line-up includes both Sugar Grove (bluegrass) and The New Old Fashioned (rock/Americana). On Aug. 26 concert-goers will enjoy Them Kids (country/classic rock), as well as returning favorite, The Eric Jerardi Band (Blues rock). Jerardi tours nationally and has released several albums, including the 2013 release, Everybody’s Waiting.

In addition to music, Tin Roof Mobile Food will be on hand for hungry patrons. The food truck sells beef, pork, chicken, and vegetarian dishes. The grain & forage-fed beef is farm-raised by the company. It is processed locally and is hormone, antibiotic and steroid free. “It’s simply delicious!” says Duer.

Duer says she and her husband, Joe, got the idea for the Summer Nights events when they visited Nashville and saw several farms hosting similar events. “We thought it would be fun to have an event where people could come out and enjoy a nice, relaxed evening of music and learn a little more about our farm and distillery,” explains Duer.

Indian Creek Distillery charges a $15.00 cover fee for each night of the Mash Bill Music Series. The family-friendly events take place outside on the grounds of the Staley Mill Farm & Indian Creek Distillery. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own chairs and are invited to bring their own beverages. Whiskey and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Indian Creek Distillery is located at 7095 Staley Rd., New Carlisle.

While Duer is confident that The Mash Bill Music Series promises to be a hit, she cannot help but send Mother Nature a subtle hint as well, “Hopefully, we’ll not only have both great music and food, but we’ll also have some beautiful weather to enjoy it in!”
