The students at Guiding Shepherd Christian School have begun a “Little Library” on Pike St. next to the food pantry.
“You take a book that you want to read and leave a book for someone else to read,” said Guiding Shepherd Principal Bambi Heck. “We’re doing it to promote literacy.”
New Carlisle Public Library Children’s Librarian Maggie Bollar mentioned Little Libraries to the students and the Student Council liked the idea. They then put it into action.
“This is the first Little Library in New Carlisle,” said Bollar.
A parent made the library “building” and the students cut the ribbon last week.
