With warm weather returning this week and all of the area pools closed for the season, you still have a chance to get cooled off as a youngster living in Clark County.

The $350,000 National Trails Parks and Recreation Sprayground opened at Snyder Park this past week and the families were out in large numbers to enjoy a Sunday afternoon in the park.

The sprayground is adjacent to the adaptive playground and features three buckets on a tall pole that dump randomly onto the children. There are random water sprouts that appear from nowhere and then disappear after a brief splash. There are also consistent water features that keep everyone feeling cool and refreshed as they play on the specially designed water pad.

This new sprayground feature will be open from 8:30 am to 8:30 pm until mid-September. The funding for this project was provided by the non-profit organization Friends of Snyder Park. Additional funding was provided by Speedway and The Hellmuth family.

The eastern area of Snyder Park is now a destination for families and community members with the installation of the new bridge completed this summer.

The sprayground, playground, tennis courts and Central Bark are all within walking distance of the ample parking. The former golf course is now home to the dog park and the Master Gardener’s trial gardens. A large picnic shelter is also located near the sprayground for those who wish to enjoy an afternoon at the park for lunch or dinner.
