At the April 11, 2017 meeting of the Bethel Township Trustees, the trustees approved the final payment of $152,605.81 to Security National Bank to pay off the mortgage on the Bethel Township Fire Department Building.

The trustees hired eight new personnel for the Paid for Call program effective April 11, 2017. The personnel include Allen Lutz, Diana Perkins, Corey Eshbaugh, Bryanna Howard, Cody Teegarden, Kaylin Griffith, Courtney Stagner and Sean Reynolds. Trustee Nancy Brown administered the oath of office for the new personnel.

In regular business, the trustees approved two supplemental appropriations the first for $2,605.81 was for Contingencies to Transfers Out for the Fire Fund. The second for $1,668 was for transfers out for the Retirement Fund Interest and Principal.

In addition, the trustees amended the 2017 certificate of estimated resources to reflect an additional $122,605.81 for the Retirement Fund. They also approved the transfer of $77,605,81 from the Fire Fund and the transfer of $75,000 from the EMS Fund for a total of $152,605.81 to the Bond Retirement Fund.

Trustee David Phares moved to accept aggregate gas rates from Volunteer Energy for a 24-month contract. The contract included rates from Vectren for the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) rate plus adder rate at .0970 and from Columbia Gas for the NYMEX plus adder of .1220. Volunteer Energy offers residents and business a variety of rate plan options that allow them to choose their suppliers that is best for them.

For the road department, the trustees approved a resolution to participated in the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Winter Contract for road salt. For 2017-2018 winter, the trustees approved Road Superintendent to purchase 400 tons of road salt through the program. They also set the quarterly meeting with the Road Crew for Tuesday April 18, 2017.

The next meeting of the Bethel Township Trustees is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on April 25, 2016 in Station 51 meeting room at 3333 Lake Road in Medway.
