Bethel Twp. Fire Chief Jacob King listens as Bethel Twp. Trustee Don Minton motions to place Firefighter Steven Schaeffer on unpaid administrative leave.

The Trustees of Bethel Township in Clark County welcomed home their Fire Chief, Jacob King, as well as getting an up-to-date look into the Fire Department.

Chief King told of how the Department is moving the radios from the original medic unit and putting them into the new unit. He also said that work continues on the striping and the wording for the new medic unit.

King also informed the Trustees that the total number of EMS and Fire calls was up 100 more than what they were last year, with the total being 333 calls as of February 28.

As of February 28, Steve Schaffer was placed under investigation by Chief King, and was out on unpaid leave until further notice.

Deputy Nick Andersen was also in attendance for this meeting, and told the Trustees that John Hicks had been arrested. Deputy Andersen has been adjusting well to serving the people of New Carlisle and Bethel Township and the surrounding areas.

The Trustees set in stone the Community Dinner, which is to be held at the Styer Park Lion’s Den on March 23, 2017 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.
