New Website Now Accepting Claims

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine today announced that consumers who have unused gift cards from the former RadioShack can file claims to seek refunds for remaining card balances.

“Consumers who have unused RadioShack gift cards may be able to get their money back,” Attorney General DeWine said. “We’re encouraging eligible Ohioans to take advantage of this opportunity.”

Consumers can file claims at www.oldradioshackgiftcards.com from now until Dec. 2, 2016, to seek a refund.

The claims process was established under a settlement led by Texas and supported by Ohio, 22 other states, and the District of Columbia to protect consumers after RadioShack filed for bankruptcy earlier in 2015.

Under a court order approving the settlement, gift cards purchased from a RadioShack retail store, from RadioShack’s website, or from RadioShack authorized sellers (Safeway, Incomm, or PointMobl) generally will be treated as priority claims in the bankruptcy court and paid in full.

Cards that do not qualify as “priority,” such as those acquired through merchandise returns or promotions, will be paid as general unsecured claims and may not receive any payment.

Supporting Texas in the settlement agreement were: Ohio, Arizona, Arkansas, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia.
