Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) has appointed State Representative Kyle Koehler (R-Springfield) to the Ohio Family Stability Commission.
Established last year through Senate Bill 30, the Ohio Family Stability Commission is tasked with conducting research and generating recommendations to the General Assembly and state agencies related to societal issues impacting the stability of families in Ohio. These issues include, among others, divorce rate, birth rate among unmarried individuals, domestic violence and child abuse and child custody. Upon making recommendations for improving these factors, the commission will then work with the legislature and agencies for implementing appropriate policies.
“I am humbled by Speaker Rosenberger's decision to appoint me to the Ohio Family Stability Commission,” Koehler said. “The breakdown of the nuclear family has caused our state to intervene in many places with tax dollars. While government does not have all the answers, I believe as leaders we can help identify issues that churches, non-profits and community groups can begin to rally around and address. Keeping families healthy and together will have a positive generational effect on Ohio and its communities for many years to come.”
Koehler is among four elected members of the General Assembly appointed to serve on the bipartisan commission, along with 21 other agency representatives, private citizens and experts in related fields.
Koehler is serving his second term in the Ohio House. He represents the 79th District, which includes portions of Clark County. He and his wife Kathrin have been married for 29 years and have five children.
