0191Tecumseh High School students Austin Diehl and Courtney Mulford were recently featured in the Muse Machine production of Oliver! at the Victoria Theater in Dayton.  Tecumseh has 114 middle school and high school students who participate in Muse Machine, which provides year-round involvement and exposure to the performing arts.

Cindy Gulden, Co-Advisor of the Muse Machine program at Tecumseh, said Diehl and Mulford were part of the chorus in the Oliver! production held January 15-18 at Victoria Theater.  Gulden said this was Mulford’s first time in a Muse Machine production, but noted that Diehl had performed in last year’s production of Seussical.  On top of their regular high school academic and extracurricular load, students involved in such productions must be able to dedicate as many as 30 hours per week for rehearsals, as well as finding transportation to and from Dayton on a regular basis.

Gulden said performances are hosted at Tecumseh five or six times per year for members of the Muse Machine program, and on Thursday of last week, members of the Dayton Opera visited the school.
