Tecumseh Bomb Threat001At 9:30am last Friday morning, the Sheriff’s Office received a call from the administration of Tecumseh High School, advising of a threat specific to THS for that day was written in a girls' restroom.  School staff advised that a written note was found that indicated the possible presence of a device inside.

Students and staff were moved outside to the stadium while deputies conducted an investigation, and students were reportedly made to leave all of their possessions inside during the search for a suspicious bag left on the campus.

Following the evacuation of the students,  dogs and their handlers, accompanied by deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and school custodial staff, did a complete sweep of the entire building. No device of any kind was located.

"We have plans in place for reasons like this" said Tecumseh Superintendent Norm Glisman. "It's just sad to see this happen. I'm disappointed."

“Kudos to the THS staff and students for doing an excellent job all morning during a difficult situation” said Glisman. “It is hope that we will be able to find out who wrote the message on the wall.”

After the threat was determined to be a hoax, investigators from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office began attempts to identify the responsible person.  After reviewing video and speaking to several witnesses it was determined that the suspect was a student by the name of  Ms. Slone.

Investigators returned to Tecumseh High school Monday morning to make contact with Ms. Slone.  While at the school, the administration was notified of another threat written on the wall of another bathroom.  The Sheriff’s Office issued a media statement that says: “Due to the diligence of staff and the preventive measures put in place by Tecumseh’s administration, investigators were able to quickly narrow down the responsible suspect, confirm that it was a hoax and avoid evacuating the school.”  The suspect was identified as a student, Mr. Smart.

Shortly after Mr. Smart was taken into custody, investigators located the first suspect, Ms. Slone, at her residence and she was taken into custody.  Ms. Slone was charged with one count of delinquency inducing panic and Mr. Smart was charged with one count of delinquency criminal mischief.
