Park Layne Elementary staff members hosted a special treat for their students on Friday, October 30th. They invited New Carlisle Public Library’s Children’s Librarian Maggie Bollar to read to students during their lunch period. Kindergartners and first graders enjoyed listening to stories and eating their lunch “picnic style” while Miss Maggie read interactive stories and several picture books including Ten Orange Pumpkins, What’s in the Witch’s Kitchen, and The Foggy Foggy Forest.
Tecumseh Elementary Schools celebrated the fall season throughout the district in various ways. Some schools held costume parades; others had harvest parties near the end of the day on Friday. Here Donnelsville Elementary students and teachers begin their Halloween weekend with a parade around the block.
Third grade classes at Donnelsville Elementary visited the one-room schoolhouse located on New Carlisle Pike. Known as the Advance School, this structure provides the setting to teach students what it was like to attend school in the early 1900’s. Members of The Clark County Retired Teachers Association provide a unique learning experience for third graders throughout Clark County. Students and teachers dress in period clothing, pack lunches in baskets and pails, and step back in time for the day.
