Students and staff at Park Layne Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday on Thursday, March 2nd through reading, activities, and guest readers.

The celebration, which coincides with Read Across America Week, involved theme-based activities connected to a different Dr. Seuss book read by a guest reader on the morning announcements.

Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, was born on March 2, 1904. He died September 24, 1991, at age 87.

Park Layne Elementary is also raising money to help support the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in the Tecumseh Local School District. Through this initiative, children (from birth to age 5) will receive a new book mailed to their home each month. The read-a-thon will continue through Friday, March 10th. Visit the district’s website to support literacy and reading.
