At the October 22, 2014 Meeting of the Bethel Township Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA), the board approved a request from David BaumGardner of 7114 US 40 to decrease the side yard setback requirement. In his request, BaumGardner requested the side yard setback requirement be reduced from the required 20 feet to 10 feet to build an office and display room for his business.

Initially, Jeff Green, Planning and Zoning, recommended against the setback since it would put the building very close to the property line. However, BaumGardner requested that the property line stakes be established. Once the location of the property line was established, the plans indicated that the facility would be located 15 feet from the property line rather than the initially proposed 10 feet. After some discussion of the modified request, the BZA approved the request. Green said, “He is building a commercial building in an area that residences cannot be built.”

The next meeting of the BZA is tentatively scheduled for November 19, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at the Township Building; however, currently, the BZA has no hearings scheduled. The meeting will be canceled unless a request is made before that time.
