At the April 12, 2017 meeting of the Clark County Commissioners, commissioners heard an update from Community and Economic Develop Director Tom Hale on the progress being made by Buxton on perspective businesses for location in Clark County. According to Hale, Buxton has completed Phase I. As a result of that research, custom packages have been sent to the top 20 companies identified as good fits for the Clark County Community. He said, “Two responses have notified us that they are not interested in the area. However, we are engaged in lots of conversations with businesses who may be potential prospects.”

The Engineers Office finalized several contracts for the 2017 roadwork projects. These include a contract with FDC Enterprises, Inc for $81,05 got the 2017 Herbicidal Spray Contract effective April 10, 207 through October 27, 2017. The commissioners also awarded a contract to Ohio Bridge Corporation DBA US Bridge for $105,89.07 for the West County Line Road to furnish and install steel beam bridge supersturtuce effective April 6, 2017.

In preparation for addition work, the commissioners instructed the clerk to advertised for bids for the East Home Road Reconstruction project. These bids are due by June 8, 2017 at 10:00 a.m.

The clerk also advertised for bids for the 2017 pavement marking project due by 10:00 a.m. on May 18, 2017. And the 2017 Roadway resurfacing project due in the commissioner’s office by 10:00 a.m. on May 18, 2017.

The commissioners rejected proposals from Citizens National Bank, Paymentus, Point and Pay, Municipal Service Bureau, and Lexis Nexis for Merchant Series and authorized the clerk to reissued and RFP for these services.

The commissioners authorized a contract with Maximus Consulting Services, Inc for $36,000 to prepare the annual countywide costal allocation program effective January 1. 2017 through March 31, 2017.

They also authorized an agreement with the Clark County SPCA not to exceed $50,000 to provide facilities, materials, and services necessary for housing, feeding, caring for, destroying, and disposing of dogs seized by the County Dog Warden or the Warden’s Deputies February 1, 2017 through December 31, 2017.

For the Department of Job and Family Services (DJFS), the commissioners authorized two contracts with the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office. The first contract was for legal representation for $15,893.11 from April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018. The second contract for $172,479.32 with the Clark County Prosecutor’s Office for legal representation from April 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018.

For Buildings and Grounds, the commissioners increased the Contract with S & L Specialty Contracting, Inc by $16,800 to remove and dispose of hazardous material from window at A.B. Graham Building.

The commissioners also acknowledged a receipt of an annexation request for 3.43 acres at 1001 Skinner Lane from Springfield Township to the City of Springfield.

The next meeting of the Clark County Commissioners is scheduled for April 19, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. in the commissioners’ conference room at 50 E Columbia Street.
