Clark County Sheriff’s Office Receives the 2016-2017 Drug Use Prevention Grant for $53,685.48 to be used for the DARE program in Clark County Schools.

On August 29th, 2016, Clark County Sheriff Gene A. Kelly accepted the 2016-2017 Drug Use Prevention Grant Award in the amount of $53,685.48

This grant award will be used in the DARE program to fund the salaries of the Two Full time Deputies assigned to Instruction duties of the program in ALL Clark County Schools. Deputies Lisle and Berner instruct the NEW DARE curriculum to all 1,100 Fifth Graders in the Clark County Schools. This is the most current and updated training program of it’s kind in the United States. The Clark County Sheriff’s DARE program of instruction also includes the Middle school and High School as well.

The Clark County Sheriff Office is one of the Longest Serving DARE programs in the United States. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office started the DARE program in 1988 and the first DARE Instructor trained with LAPD officers where the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) course of instruction began. In 2009 Sheriff Gene A. Kelly was awarded the Law Enforcement Executive of the Year Award by the DARE association of Ohio in Recognition of Outstanding Service and Contributions to the DARE Association of Ohio.
