IT certainly was not an ideal day for an outdoor festival. It was hot and muggy, the rain kept threatening all day. Executive Director, Pat Banaszak, stated, “Now I know what school officials feel when they have to decide whether or not to cancel school due to weather.” But the decision to keep the Safety Day on track and to hold the event was made and it became a great event for lots of people with just a couple of downpours. We, at FYI, thank everyone who worked so hard to make it successful, who came to be honored, and especially those who came to enjoy the booths, see Careflight, and get some food from the food trucks. Fun was had by many who competed in both the relays and tug-of-war and the craziness was seen by all those who either watched or played Smashball!!

To all of our booth vendors, thank you for sharing your information on your particular safety issue. Every festival goer learned so much about all the different booths that represented the important issues in our lives. From bike helmets to free safe phones; from Children’s Medical to mentoring, and from Senior programs to a very special farm that helps so many people, we all did it and did it well. The rain could not stop this festival from going on.

We hope everyone who attended had a good time and we thank Tecumseh and all the youth who worked on their videos so hard to make the festival a success. It definitely was!!
